Glossary Term
Limit of Quantitation
Abbreviation: LoQ
Performance MetricsEN
Definition
The lowest concentration of an analyte that can be quantified with acceptable accuracy and precision under stated conditions — distinct from, and higher than, the limit of detection.
Extended Notes
Below the LoQ, an assay may report "detected but not quantifiable". For viral-load monitoring, the LoQ defines the floor at which treatment-response trends are interpretable, which is why quantitative claims matter more than detection claims in that setting.
